Darjeeling is a world-renowned hill station in the Indian state of West Bengal, located at an average elevation of 6,700 feet. Famous for its tea industry, the UNESCO World Heritage Himalayan Railway, and the spectacular views of Kanchenjunga — the world's third-highest peak — Darjeeling is the crown jewel of North Bengal tourism. Approximately 620 km from Kolkata, it is the ultimate mountain destination for families and groups.

The journey from Kolkata to Darjeeling is divided into two distinct phases. The first 560 km is a long-haul drive through the plains of Bengal on NH12 and NH27, passing through major agricultural and historic hubs like Krishnanagar, Berhampore, and Malda. The first stretch takes you across the Gangetic plains, over the massive Farakka Barrage, and into the heart of North Bengal. The second phase begins from Siliguri (Sukna), where the real mountain adventure starts. The 60-70 km climb into the hills can be done via the historic Hill Cart Road, the steeper but faster Rohini Road, or the incredibly scenic Pankhabari Road. The climb takes about 3 hours, taking you from near sea-level to over 6,000 feet. The road features numerous hair-pin bends, sprawling tea garden views, and occasional crossings of the Toy Train tracks. Our drivers are specifically trained for both the long highway stretch and the technical requirements of Himalayan mountain driving including fog navigation and steep incline control. Every vehicle undergoes a thorough mountain-readiness check, including brake performance and cooling system inspection, before departing for this 620 km odyssey.
