The Kolkata to Puri run on NH16 passes through multiple toll plazas across West Bengal and Odisha. Every single toll is included in our quoted price — no toll money collected from passengers during the trip, no fuel surcharge added at the end, no parking fees at Puri temple or beach. One price, final.
For a 10 PM or midnight departure to Puri, the last thing you want is to arrange your own transport to a driver collection point. Our drivers come to your exact home, hotel, or office address in Kolkata or Howrah — ready at the confirmed time, however late the departure.
The Kolkata to Puri overnight run has its own rhythm — the Balasore breakfast timing, the Bhubaneswar bypass at dawn, the road into Puri's Marine Drive hotel strip, the parking near Jagannath Temple, the access road to Konark. Our drivers know all of it from repeated overnight runs on this corridor.
With a private car from Barakah Travels, your group is not locked to the beach. Konark Sun Temple, Chilika Lake, Raghurajpur Artist Village, Pipli on the way back — you decide the itinerary, the driver covers it. No renegotiating, no extra per-km surprises beyond your agreed package.
A 500 km overnight trip is not the journey to discover that the vehicle's AC is unreliable or that the boot lid doesn't close properly. Every Barakah Travels car is comprehensively insured, regularly serviced, and inspected before long-distance trips. Consistency and reliability are not optional on a 500 km family journey.
Puri is one of India's most significant destinations — combining the spiritual weight of the Jagannath Temple, one of the four sacred dhams of Hinduism, with a long golden beach on the Bay of Bengal. Located approximately 500 km from Kolkata via NH16, Puri attracts Bengali families, pilgrimage groups, college trips, and corporate teams looking for a destination that delivers both cultural depth and coastal relaxation in one trip.

The Kolkata to Puri route via NH16 is one of the most heavily used intercity highway corridors in eastern India. The road is largely 4 to 6 lane expressway-grade highway for most of its length — smooth, well-lit, and fully adequate for all vehicle types from sedans to 45-seater buses. The route passes through three states (West Bengal, and Odisha) and crosses into Odisha at Balasore. There are no mountain sections, no ghats, and no single-lane stretches of note on the highway. The road quality notably improves once you cross into Odisha. The standard overnight strategy — departing Kolkata between 9 PM and 11 PM — works well for this route. Bhubaneswar is reached around 7 to 8 AM, Puri by 9 to 10 AM, giving the group a full first day at the beach or temple. The return journey is typically done as an overnight as well, or as an afternoon departure reaching Kolkata by late night.

Peak Season
October to February
15°C to 28°C
The best time to visit Puri from Kolkata. Cool, dry weather makes both beach time and temple visits comfortable. Rath Yatra falls in June-July — if your group specifically wants to witness the festival, that requires separate planning given the massive crowds. For regular trips, October to February offers the most pleasant conditions.
Avoid / Monsoon
June to September
Monsoon season brings heavy rainfall, rough seas, and reduced beach access. The Rath Yatra festival falls during this window — a unique experience but requires very early vehicle booking as the entire city fills up weeks in advance. For standard beach trips, monsoon is not recommended.
