Planning a group darshan trip to Tarapith? A tempo traveller from Kolkata to Tarapith keeps your entire group together — from your doorstep in Kolkata to the steps of Maa Tara's temple and back. Whether it is a family pilgrimage, a puja committee trip, an Amavasya darshan, or a Kali Puja yatra, having a dedicated AC vehicle means no coordination across multiple cabs, no waiting for someone who missed a cab, and no renegotiating with local drivers at every stop. Barakah Travels operates 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 20, and 26 seater AC tempo travellers on the Kolkata to Tarapith route — all with pushback reclining seats for the 4.5 to 5 hour NH19 journey, music system with Bluetooth, and a driver who knows the route and the temple town well. Our packages include toll, fuel, parking, and driver allowance. Bakreswar Shakti Peetha (25 km from Tarapith) and nearby temples are covered within the sightseeing package. We pick your group up from anywhere in Kolkata or Howrah — including 3 AM departures for Amavasya days.

On Amavasya and festival days at Tarapith, the roads leading to the temple get congested and parking becomes chaotic. A single tempo traveller keeps your entire group together from Kolkata departure to temple entry. No splitting across multiple cabs that arrive at different times, no waiting at the temple gate for a group member who got separated.
Pilgrimage groups often include elderly family members for whom physical comfort matters significantly. All Barakah Travels tempo travellers have pushback reclining seats — not bench-style seating. A 4.5 hour journey is genuinely comfortable for all ages including senior devotees.
Tarapith temple town has limited parking and the roads inside become narrow during peak periods. Our drivers know where to park for minimal walking distance from the vehicle to the temple — important for groups with elderly or mobility-challenged devotees. They also know the standard sequence for covering Tarapith temple, Maha Sasan, and Bamakhepa Ashram efficiently.
The best Amavasya darshan at Tarapith happens before 8 AM when crowds are manageable and the morning aarti atmosphere is at its most powerful. This requires leaving Kolkata by 3 to 4 AM. Our drivers are completely accustomed to pre-dawn departures on this route — it is not an exception, it is a regular practice for Tarapith Amavasya trips.
Most groups visiting Tarapith also want to cover Bakreswar (25 km away) for the Shakti Peetha darshan and hot springs. With a Barakah Travels tempo traveller, Bakreswar is simply the next stop on the itinerary — no hiring local cabs or auto rickshaws separately. One vehicle, one driver, both temples.
Tarapith is one of the most revered pilgrimage destinations in West Bengal — a 13th century tantric temple on the banks of the Dwarka river in Birbhum district, dedicated to Goddess Tara. It is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas of India, believed to be the spot where the eye of Goddess Sati fell. Located 230 km from Kolkata via NH19, Tarapith can be visited as a day trip or combined with nearby Bakreswar for a 1 night 2 day pilgrimage.

The Kolkata to Tarapith route begins on NH19 — the historic Grand Trunk Road — from Dankuni. The highway passes through Burdwan before the route transitions to the Panagarh-Morgram Expressway, which connects efficiently to Suri in Birbhum district. From Suri it is a short drive to Rampurhat and then the final 6 km to Tarapith. The road quality is generally good throughout — NH19 and the Panagarh-Morgram Expressway are both maintained highways. The final approach into Tarapith town can become congested on Amavasya days as vehicles converge from multiple directions. For Amavasya trips, arriving before 8 AM avoids the worst of this.
